Shopping in Greenwich
Lovely, leafy Greenwich is the perfect place to shop, offering as it does an eclectic mix of old and new shops, many of which are independently run.
The bohemian haven is the ideal antidote to most bland, anonymous high streets thanks to the number of independent businesses trading here - it really is something of an entrepreneurial hub. The vast majority of new start ups are first time traders, and several, such as Beauty and the Bib and Arty Globe, have followed the path of Greenwich Market stallholder to shop keeper.
We are family
Another nice thing about the town is that the shops are very much a family affair. Emma Nissim is run by talented sisters Emma and Rachel, and there are husband and wife teams at Mr Humbug - Dave and Ange, Hide All - Pauline and Mick, Compendia - Rob and Rebecca, United Ideas - Sandra and Peter, Beauty and the Bib - Lara and Kieran, Jonathan and Jackie at Emporium, and at So Organic, Sam and Stuart. The town centre is quite simply brimming with love!
A slice of village life
Greenwich town centre isn't just the hub in the middle, Greenwich South Street has a lovely row of shops anchored by the adorable Stitches and Daughters, and Royal Hill is locally-revered for its wonderful grocer, butcher, fishmonger and florist. Then there's the weekend Clocktower Market too, a great flea market if you are huntng for bric a brac, held next door to the Rivington.
A vintage year
We can't sign off without a special mention for the fashion shops in the town centre. There's no need to head into the West End or to some soulless mall - all tastes and budgets are catered for here. From Bullfrogs and Joy to Belle and Babanya, Meet Bernard for the guys, designer makers such as Sika at Cherry Picked, Coco James at Greenwich Boutique, Emma Nissim and Debbi Little, Greenwich town centre is a fashionista's dream. Add into the mix some of London's best loved vintage stores such as Emporium and 360 Degrees Vintage and you have your very own slice of retail heaven.

Who needs the Dragons?!
Hartwig and Isaac the creators of Arty Globe faced the Dragons in the their Den in the BBC series. The boys were mauled but came out smiling albeit without any backing.
But look at them now - their Greenwich Market shop is buzzing and the guys continue to go from stength to strength with new collections recently unveiled for the British Museum and Hamley's.
