New boutique in Greenwich Market gains loyal clientele

12 May 2009
Emma Nissim has officially opened in Greenwich Market at number 10a between Compendia and United Ideas.
The beautifully decorated, Victorian-inspired boutique is home to Emma’s current collection of stunning, finely-digitally printed ties and scarves – including kipper ties for her and gorgeous hoop scarves made from various and exceptional silks – all printed locally in London. Complementing this collection are her hand silk screenprinted sustainable eco-friendly bamboo t-shirts and luxurious brushed cotton t-shirts, and coveted underwear gift sets. Emma has adopted a series of new images for this season derived from Cockney rhyming slang – think apples and pears for stairs, horses and carts for darts.
Also in store is her ‘Nature’ collection featuring ducks and frogs, the diffusion ‘emmaloo’ line, and the ‘Alfie’ range named after Emma’s very own beautiful Labrador who can often be seen in the shop sporting his own Emma Nissim neckerchief. The majority of items in her collection are individually printed and produced on a limited run, making them instant collector pieces. Emma also offers a bespoke printing service, sourcing fabrics for specific requirements to create the perfect item that will be treasured for years to come. The boutique also showcases the work of some of Emma’s designer friends such as Jen Bailey - her stunning signature handmade chain jewellery range includes rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Jen's collection experiments with various materials to achieve distinctive shapes and strong colour combinations.
Also a big hit in Emma's boutique is Vikki Lafford's handmade flower, butterfly and dragonfly corsages. The corsages are hand painted, embroidered and encrusted with Swarovski crystals and look wonderful adorning a jacket, blouse, bag or hat, making them extremely versatile and a 'must have'!
Emma trained and completed her BA in Textiles at Goldsmiths University. She has always been inspired by nature and cultures from all over the world. You can find Emma either in her boutique or in her studio at Cockpit Arts in Deptford, where all her silkscreen printing and design development takes place. Emma Nissim is a family business and Emma runs it in partnership with her best friend and sister Rachael whom Emma describes as the backbone of the business, brand ambassador and muse.
